when i go home for christmas i wish that i could brag
about the job and salary that i've never had
i want my friends and family to look and be impressed
but it's hard to find a talking point when you're post grad depressed

but you can't bring this up over family dinner talks
instead it's time to tell them all that i invest in stocks
even though i'm really just a few years past my prime
and no one can convince me that a job will come in time

are they on strike

i prepare my story at least six weeks in advance
an elevator speech about my average circumstance
the unimpressive sibling with a massive coverup
everything is fine i promise i can measure up

but what do i admit to when they ask about it all
do i pretend that i'm adjusting to this new suburban sprawl
as the holiday approaches i wish that i could flee
so everyone can feel better bout my college degree
